MOMM’S Pastries is a baking business that bakes and sells delicious organic banana bread. The business started in 1993 when the founder, Marie Levin, was a single mom of three sons and wanted to provide them with a healthy dessert. This is also where the name MOMM’s comes from Marie, Olin, Mawuli, Marcus.
Because of insecurities, Marie stopped the baking business but continued as a Barber/Stylist. Many years went by and she became a prison activist. During that time she realized how important it is to help formerly incarcerated people establish productive lives. She felt her passion for baking and her concern to hire formerly incarcerated people could be a good fit. Currently, MOMM’s signature product is Organic Banana Nut Bread without white flour, sugar, or any dairy products. This unique recipe of the traditional American banana bread with a high nutritional quality was created by Marie, after testing several different combinations of ingredients.
MOMM’s Pastries will start selling homemade banana bread in October 2017. At first, Marie will bake at home. The goal is to substantially grow the business and eventually move to a commercial kitchen at the beginning of 2018.
